E11 Kelly Greene with SciTech Institute and Edward Marin with Asurea

The power of building a business in a community of other businesses that you can learn from, is especially pertinent in today’s environment. MAC6 Conscious workspace strives to offer that to all of its members. It doesn’t matter whether you’re selling someone insurance or Stem Education if, at the end of the day, you are giving people the opportunity to live better lives than the day before, then we all are striving for the same thing, right?

In this episode of MAC6 Community Connection Radio Show and Podcast, host Kyle McIntosh talked with members, Edward Marin of Asurea and Kelly Greene with SciTech Institute, about that very thing. They also all agreed that reassessing your office space needs as a company leads to a lot of creativity about how to best serve the current stage of your business and goals. MAC6 has unique offerings to allow for the ultimate flexibility to do so.

SciTech Institute is a nonprofit organization that encompasses some of the strongest STEM initiatives in Arizona, including the Arizona SciTech Festival, the Chief Science Officers Program, the RAIN Grant, the AZ STEM School Community of Practice, and Science for All.

After graduating from a small rural school in western New York and joining the United States Army, Kelly Greene learned quickly to adapt to her surroundings to be successful. While stationed in Misawa, Japan, Kelly fell in love with learning about cultures around the world. Even as a deployed Soldier during Operation Iraqi Freedom for two tours, she found opportunities to connect with the local children to form the Victory Base Council Girl Guides/Scouts with her fellow servicemen. In 2013, she was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and traveled the country by air. She had the opportunity to utilize the most advanced technologies available to the tactical HUMINT operations in theater.

Upon return from combat, Kelly retired with 20+ years of service and began teaching 6th grade Math. After being selected as Westside Impact Teacher of the Year, she was asked to teach a new class on campus – 7th grade STEM! Combining her love of learning with endless enthusiasm and strong classroom management, Kelly was able to design curriculum based on the Engineering Design Process for over 150 7th graders. Now, as the CSO International Director of Student Success for the rapidly expanding Chief Science Officers Program her goal is to push students just a bit outside of their comfort zone so they can see for themselves the power of their own ideas.

As the Chief Operations Officer for SciTech Institute, Kelly is focused on process development and systems integration through the implementation of the Entrepreneurial Operating System. Connect with Kelly to discuss opportunities to engage with the team and programs!

ABOUT OUR CO-HOSTS

Kyle McIntosh

With a background in marketing, in various for profit and not for profit companies, Kyle McIntosh wondered, “How can I pair the passion and commitment to community progress of a non-profit with the sustainability and reach of a for profit company?” From this question and perspective a mission evolved to tear down the false distinction between the two sectors and to promote companies with Conscious Capitalism® business models through MAC6.

Kyle is the President and Creative Excitant of MAC6.  Day to day, his main operational role is on the “spaces” side of the business, focusing on creating thriving communities in the commercial office buildings, the co-working space, and the co-manufacturing space.  The other role that he plays is that of EOS implementer, working with clients to bring the Entrepreneurial Operating System, from the book Traction® to their businesses.  Additionally, he sits on the boards of Conscious Capitalism Arizona, telling the stories of good businesses in Arizona, and The Tempe Chamber of Commerce, sustaining Tempe’s quality of life and keeping our community and economy vibrant.

Kyle loves Arizona and wants to see us all collectively find great success based on the awesome things that are happening here every day.
