Can you believe it? I cannot. This wild, challenging, and transformative year will be coming to a close in just a few short months. What lessons will you be taking with you? What goals will you have accomplished? What impact will you have made?

This year has thrown more curve balls than we could have ever dreamed on January 1st, 2020. I smile as I reflect on the irony of many, including myself, coining 2020 as the “year of vision” in late 2019. Perhaps it was…just not the vision I/we had in mind. It is my belief that in the midst of the pain and chaos of 2020 there are life changing lessons that can be carried forward. Knowing what you know now, look at what you set out to accomplish in January. Are these things still applicable? Is there something you can do in the last 4 months to take a step in your goal’s direction if you can no longer fully achieve it? Perhaps you need to adjust / re-work your goals. Allow yourself some flexibility. Now is the time to be thinking, planning, and laying a solid foundation so that you can start 2021 ready to sprint towards “the thing” you are wanting to achieve. What will success look like for you at the end of 2020? If you cannot clearly define it, spend some time defining it now. Yes, now. Block some time on your calendar this week to clearly define what your definition of success for this year looks like. It’s ok if it’s a different answer than the one you had in January. The important thing is to have clarity on what you are working towards and keep moving forward. Baby steps count.

One of the best ways to get clarity, is a Clarity Break. Simply schedule some time for yourself with a pen and paper (my preference) or your laptop in a place with no distractions. I often sit outside early morning when I take my clarity break. To begin, you simply journal all of the things in your head. Get everything out of your head and onto the paper or screen. You can also go into a clarity break with a question or problem and capture all of your thoughts around it. For example, you could use a clarity break to answer the question I posed a few minutes ago; “What does success look like for 2020?” If you allow yourself the hour or two of stillness and quiet you will be amazed at the answers and, you guessed it, the clarity you will get. You have all of the answers within, sometimes you just have to be still enough to hear them.

If you do try it, I would love to hear your experience and would be honored for you to share your goals. Let’s finish this year strong, together! If you get stuck or need any help with goal setting, establishing your vision, finding your purpose you know where to find us! As always, feel free to reach out to me at jennifer.burwell@mac6.com.
